Our Team

Thomas Haney

Hi, I’m Thomas, the director of Spark Labs Aero. I’m an aerospace engineer with over 19 years of experience working really cool projects across the defense industry. As a rocket scientist, I spent my undergrad at Virginia Tech and completed my graduate studies at Florida Tech. From the UK to Japan to the Middle East, I have gone on engineering adventures all over the world. I have worked on helicopters, fighter jets, and aircraft that transform mid-flight. In my spare time, I enjoy building computers, launching rockets, and flying drones. More importantly, I’m a husband to an amazing wife and the proud father of three awesome sons. My journey has been shaped not only by my work in the aerospace industry, but also by the time I’ve spent working with kids through ministry, summer camps, and after-school programs.

In 2025, God placed it on my heart to start Spark Labs—a space where young minds can explore, build, and grow through hands-on learning and creativity. This is just the beginning, and I’m excited for the many ideas and opportunities ahead as we serve to inspire the next generation.

Shervyse Haney

Meet our Co-Director: Shervyse, a dynamic educator, author, and creative visionary whose passion for uplifting others shines through every endeavor. With a degree in Digital Cinematography and a heart for storytelling, she brings light and laughter to her work, whether behind the camera, in the classroom, or through her writing.

A devoted homeschool teacher and mother of three, Shervyse has cultivated rich learning environments both at home and in the community. She is Montessori certified. Her experience spans ministry, tutoring, substitute teaching, daycare, and even leading a micro-school from our home — each role reflecting her deep commitment to nurturing young minds. Through her platform Smilin Light, she continues to encourage others with joy, authenticity, and hope.
